The First Quadrant

positive quadrant

Life is but a wheel. Sometimes you’re down, sometimes you’re up. We can never stop the cycle unless you stop moving. And the worst that you could do is to stop the wheel of life. So how come there are people who are constantly on the top of the world? Why are there people who just can’t seem to get out of the dumps? It’s all a matter of perception.

In the numbers world, the first quadrant represents the area in the graph wherein both the Y and the X axis are positive. In real life, it’s the ideal place to be. It means that everything is working for you. On the personal level, it could mean having a rewarding job, a happy family and all the money in the world. In reality, that is just somehow a bit too hard to achieve. But being in the first quadrant is really up to us.

A lot have been said on how to keep positivity. Here are some of the most popular tips and guides in order for you to keep a positive attitude in life;

Be constructive – Being down doesn’t necessarily mean you’re out. Always seek the brighter side of things. If everything looks dismal and you think that things could never be worse, at least appreciate the fact that the future will always be better. Focus on that positive note and work your way to achieve it.

Believe in yourself – Build up your confidence. One way to do that is to keep the company of positive people. Know your capabilities and use them to your advantage. Acknowledge your challenges and focus on your good points. Be proud of every achievement.

Keep an open eye for opportunities – Actively seek for new opportunities. Reinvent yourself. Grab every opportunity for betterment. Improve your looks, develop skills, and learn new things. You will need these if you are to level up.

Look for solutions – Instead of wallowing in your sorrow and failures look for ways on how you are going to set out of that situation. Think out of the box. Do not be afraid to try new and untested ways and solutions. You’re constantly passed on promotions doesn’t mean you’re any less good than the other person. You’re just less qualified, so work on that.

Expect success – Keep your mindset on winning. A losing attitude will never give you a win. Quitters never win too. Project the winner’s attitude. If you want the company’s top position, then dress and start thinking like the CEO, if you want to finish a master’s degree, start looking at jobs that requires a master’s degree.

Be optimistic – Facing the light will certainly cast the shadows behind. Do not dwell too much on the spilt milk. That won’t do you any good. Do not worry that you might not be good enough or good-looking enough when applying for your dream job. Most employers feel threatened with employees that are better than they are, anyways.

So how do you effectively do that entire list above? You’re right; playing personal PEP squad is tiring. One way or another, expect some gloomy days ahead. Let the wheel do its turning.

Learn how to embrace life as it is and only then that you’ll be able to face it positively.

But, then again, there is the first quadrant. Remember that we can will our position on the graph. No more following the rules of the wheel. There are certain ways to do that. You just have to go deeper into yourself. Eliminate what is outside and focus on your core self.
